Please select your major metro area. Is your town a suburb? If so, please select your nearest major metro. (Many in the suburbs find good matches here, but roommate matching works best by major metro.) Is your area not here at all? If not, RoomieMatch.com does not yet serve your region. The order is by zones: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Northwest, and Southwest US, followed by Alaska and Hawaii, then Canada. Cities are in alphabetical order within their zone.

Please type a few words regarding your more specific location. NOT your actual street address (best to choose on a case-by-case basis who gets that), but your general area. Do you live in a well-known neighborhood? Near a public landmark like a park or large school? A nearby major intersection would work too, but including something most residents know about would be even better.

If it's POSSIBLE your new roommate could bring a pet, select one of the first two for best results. (You can get more specific later.)

Are you also considering an additional major metro? Most aren't, but there are exceptions, often involving nearby areas. If you work in Manhattan, you might also consider nearby boroughs (especially if you're trying to save money). Other exceptions may include students accepted to multiple schools, whose ultimate choice may depend upon housing. (If you don't want one, just tap NEXT.)

You can restrict to your own age range. We don't recommend restricting, as it will limit your results. Plus, you don't actually need to rely on age-related stereotypes that are often inaccurate. Successful roommate matches usually happen when folks review roommates individually (via the rest of the questions), so that would be the clever way to go here.

Extreme specificity, like exactly where you work, is not required. But a general idea of how you earn a living - and/or whatever other income you'll be using - such that your lifestyle requirements will be covered - is. Failure to be informative here means you won't be accepted, because it would also mean most sane potential roommates would never pick you.

We will never sell, share, or rent your information outside this service.

All information will only be used for roommate matching inside this service (located at RoomieMatch.com, and only at RoomieMatch.com).

Never sold, shared, or rented to anyone else under any circumstances.

The only people granted access to anything whatsoever will be other roommate searchers inside this service, and only for the duration of your collective overlapping searches.

Your personal information will not be published online (by RoomieMatch.com).

All information is transmitted to us privately and securely, then stored offline.

This means you will not be exposed to spam and/or other unwanted contact (again, as a result of signing up with RoomieMatch.com).

    IP Address Actual Location Analysis

As part of our determination regarding which subscribers we'll accept, we "IP Address Actual Location Analysis" all submissions.

This means we collect subscriber IP Addresses, then analyze them to determine their actual geographic locations.

We will then share the cities indicated with ALL subscriber matches.

We will NOT share the actual IP addresses themselves, MERELY the cities indicated.

We exist to help you find a roommate, nothing else.

    We are all about roommates.

You won't get advertisements from us for anything else.

You'll hear from us regarding your roommate search for the duration of your search . . . not about a bunch of other stuff too.

All subscribers will be sent revalidation email approximately once per month.

A failure to respond affirmatively to that email before the deadline will result in profile deletion and possibly, the need to submit a fresh profile to get started again.

Please check your email regularly during your roommate search. Failure to check your email at least once per day will likely result in missed roommate opportunities.

We did actually want you to notice exactly how private we are, how we're not going to send you ads for other stuff, how we're not going to share your info outside of this service, and basically how we operate. We encourage you to hit "previous" and re-review, until you're comfortable.

If you share a number, please let potential roommates know if you'd rather they text/phone/either, and when. Again, you do not have to provide a number, but you may find a roommate more quickly if you do. Only roommate matches would get your number privately, and only if your collective roommate restrictions mesh. But those folks JUST MIGHT text or phone you! :) So if you'd rather not hear from someone new via text or phone first, don't provide your number here, just leave it blank, and tap NEXT.

The most reliable email accounts are usually the paid ones. If you feel you must use a free email service, we recommend Gmail as the most reliable. We do NOT recommend use of any mainstream free email account other than Gmail, as in the experiences of thousands of subscribers who reported back to us, all popular free email services are less reliable than Gmail. To prevent the needlessly annoying loss of your entire submission due to nothing other than a typo, we're going to help you verify your email address before submitting . . . rather than automatically deleting you without review when it fails due to nothing other than a typo . . . so let's make sure that doesn't happen! Please enter your email address, then tap "Send Verification Code." Then just check your email inbox, copy and paste your code, then tap SUBMIT. That's the VERY LAST STEP! :)
